Temporal and Spatial Changes of Runoff Regime in the Yellow River Basin from 1956 to 2017

The Yellow River is one of the major rivers with severe runoff declines in China, but there are significant differences changes upper and lower reaches basin among different tributaries. However, characteristic change its spatial heterogeneity not well understood whole basin. In this paper, 48 hydrological stations located mainstream tributaries were selected, meteorological data from 1956 to 2017 collected. multi-year intra-year analyzed, then attribution climate human activity was quantified by elasticity coefficients. results showed that: (1) past 60 years, a serious decrease trend −8.25 mm/10a. Moreover, most decreased significantly rate −1.42 mm/10a −28.99 mm/10a; (2) for basin, contribution 13% 87%, respectively. two factors varied considerably Finally, focusing on regime socioeconomic characteristics, study provided corresponding water resources adaptive management suggestions.
